funded projects

The Staunton Farm Foundation awards grants in the field of mental health in southwestern Pennsylvania. The Foundation encourages projects, which represent new and different approaches for organizations, which ultimately affect patient care. Support may be for more than one year, but after the period of the grant, it is hoped that the project becomes self-sustaining.

We serve a ten-county area in southwestern Pennsylvania. The counties include Washington, Greene, Fayette, Westmoreland, Armstrong, Butler, Lawrence, Beaver, Indiana and Allegheny.

Application Procedures:
The application process begins with an initial Letter of Intent submitted to the Foundation’s Executive Director. After initial review, a prospective grantee may be asked to submit a formal application for consideration by the Foundation’s Project Committee. Part of the review by the Project Committee most likely will involve a site visit to discuss the proposal.

The Project Committee meets three times a year, and its recommendations are considered by the Board of Directors approximately a month later. The Foundation tries to provide thorough reviews as quickly as possible. Deadlines for formal applications are February, August and November 2005.

Conduct of Grants:
Organizations, which receive funding from the Foundation, must provide proof of their tax-exempt status and are required to sign a Terms of Agreement. Year-end reports are required for all grants. For grants that extend more than one year, an interim report is also required. The Foundation expects to be notified in advance and to approve any major changes in the direction of the projects or alterations in the budget.
